It's officially the first race week of the season! After a long hiatus, Tommy Edwards is gearing up for the season opener of the World SuperSport 600 Challenge at the Assen TT Circuit.
The Aussie 71 is eager to make a name for himself on the European circuit and we can expect him put it all on the track this weekend.
It's been a busy offseason for Edwards and the YART team, preparing for what they're confident will be a big year.
"It's been great being back on the YART bike this year. We've put the team, the bike and myself through it all at testing, to ensure we've got the best shot at a podium finish in 2023," says Edwards.
"We've got a few new team members and we've all come together really well."
"I'm feeling confident we'll have a successful year together. Our recent tests in Rijeka and Misano went really well. It made me really confident in the team and the bike for the season."
"I'm super keen for Assen, its a track I really enjoy riding at. Last year wasn't super lucky for me, but myself and the team have improved a lot since then and we're heading into the weekend confident."
This weekend holds extra excitement, with Edwards shaving off those long curls locks at the Paddock Show in Assen on Saturday to raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
"It'll be weird losing the curls, but it's for a good cause. 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer every day. I hope to make even a small impact by raising funds."
"So far we've raised $1300. Hopefully, together, we can move one step closer to finding a screening process and a cure," he says.
