Race Preview: Dutch Round

Set to be an epic weekend of racing at the Dutch WorldSBK round, Edwards and the D34G team will be looking to pick up where they left off in Barcelona, as they take on the Cathedral of Speed.

A few teething issues in their first round together in Barcelona saw Edwards and his new team starting the weekend on the back foot but they managed to turn the weekend around to finish on a high on Sunday, claiming P12 overall and 1st in the European Challenge.

Edwards is confident heading into Assen and eager to increase his lead in the European Challenge, where he sits in 1st being the only rider with points.

LAST TIME IN ASSEN:
Off the track, it was a huge weekend, with Edwards shaving off his curly locks to raise over $3,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation. On track was a matter of what could have been. Edwards finished race 1 in P15 and was making strong progress in race 2 before being taken out of P9 by another rider.

GOALS FOR THE WEEKEND:

  • Extend Challenge lead
  • Get up to speed quickly
  • Be up the front of the pack all weekend

QUOTE TOM EDWARDS:

“Feeling really good heading into the weekend, Assen is a track that I love and I’ve done a lot of laps there in the past so I’m confident coming into the weekend, even though it’s a new bike it shouldn’t take me long to adjust to the track.

“The way Barcelona finished is where we’ll be starting the weekend and I’m looking forward to building on that."

“This bike and my team have what it takes to go all the way, it’s up to me to get them there.”

I’m actually basing myself in the Netherlands this year and just got my Netherlands residency, so I guess you could say this as close as I’ll get to a ‘home race.’ I’ll be giving it everything to get a good result.”
