After a 7-week hiatus it’s officially race week! The D34G team are gearing up for their home round of Misano and Tom Edwards is egar to make it one to remember.
The track:
Surrounded by sun, sea and sand located near the east coast Italian town of Rimini.
This classic WorldSBK track is 4.226km long with 16 corners, 10 left and 6 right with a 510m start finish straight.
Last time:
Last year on the YART Yamaha Tom couldn’t get a strong lap together for qualifying leaving him starting in P25 on the grid.
It was head down and full gas when it came to race time, boasting top speeds in both races as he climbed his way up the field to finish the weekend with points.
Tom and the D34G team had a much needed test in Misano just two weeks ago where they were able fix any teething issues and get Tom accustomed to the bike and track, ready for a big weekend in front of a home crowd this weekend.
Weekend Goals:
- Start the weekend off with a personal best lap time in free practice
- Set our expectations for a top 6 finish
- Have fun and go fast
Tom Edwards:
“I’m feeling very confident coming into this weekend at Misano, especially after getting a good result in the last round in Assens. I’ve had 7 weeks to sleep on that and it’s made me really keen to get back on the bike and keep improving.
It was great to do a test here a few weeks ago. There were a few things that we needed to make changes on and I needed to get comfortable with the bike again, so I’m glad we’re starting this weekend where we left off at the test and we’re heading into the weekend as prepared as we can be.
The pace and consistency is coming, I’m confident that we can race at the front.
The crowd in Misano is always incredible and it’s a team home round, I’m really keen.”
