It was a highly competitive field of riders this weekend in Misano, Italy, being a home round for many on the grid. Every lap and every turn brought a new challenge but it didn't steer Tom Edwards and the YART team from walking away from the weekend with points.
Unfortunately for Edwards, a disappointing Superpole result meant he was in P25 on the starting grid. Despite this setback, Edwards put up a fierce fight and narrowly missed out on scoring points, crossing the finish line just seconds behind Federico Fuligni. He ultimately finished race 1 in 16th place in the World SuperSport race. However, in the World SuperSport Challenge category, Edwards shone, finishing in an impressive 2nd place behind Fuligni.
Sunday's race proved another challenge, but at lights out, Edwards sprung into action. He quickly worked his way up the field to finish scoring much-needed points, finishing 13th in the World SuperSport and another 2nd place in the World SuperSport Challenge.
"We always knew that this weekend was going to be one of the most difficult on the calendar, it's a home round for a lot of riders, and unfortunately, we didn't get a proper test in before this weekend," said Tom.
"I struggled to get my groove in F1 & 2, which led to a pretty disappointing qualifying. We knew we were better than that, So the team and I sat down and made a game plan."
"We made a few adjustments to the bike after and came into the race with a clear mindset. I knew I had my work cut out for me, so I just got stuck in."
"Happy to finish the weekend with more points and only 5 points behind in the SuperSport Challenge."
"We're learning as we go, the tracks, the bike, the competition. But we've got an awesome team and we're working hard to improve every round. I'm really looking forward to what the rest of the season holds."
